{"id":353,"date":"2016-05-31T15:00:27","date_gmt":"2016-05-31T15:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/projecttransformation.org\/north-texas\/?page_id=353"},"modified":"2025-09-18T17:40:36","modified_gmt":"2025-09-18T17:40:36","slug":"summer-internship","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/projecttransformation.org\/greater-tarrant\/our-programs\/college-internships\/summer-internship","title":{"rendered":"Summer Internships"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Young Adult Internship<\/h3>\n<p>Project Transformation Greater Tarrant is a faith-based, paid summer internship for young adults that offers hands-on opportunities to build mutually enriching relationships with children, live in intentional community, experience cultural and socio-economic diversity, and explore various careers through vocational discernment.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants must have completed one year of college or be at least 19 years old (by May 2026), and must have the legal right to work in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Competitive applicants for the Internship will:<\/p>\n<p>Be highly motivated, self-starters<\/p>\n<p>Consider yourself a lifelong learner<\/p>\n<p>Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy working with children<\/p>\n<p>Be open-minded<\/p>\n<p>Have a desire to love and serve others<\/p>\n<p>Be dedicated to living in intentional community with other young adults.<\/p>\n<p>There are five primary components to the Project Transformation Greater Tarrant internship experience:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day Camp<\/strong><br \/>\nDuring the summer program, Project Transformation Greater Tarrant interns work in teams to implement an eight-week summer day camp for elementary (K-6) or junior high (7-9) students. Sites are located in communities experiencing marginalization. Components of the program include: a one-to-one reading program, Bible lesson, arts enrichment, music, recreational activities, and other activities in which the gifts and talents of the interns can be shared with the children.<\/p>\n<div class='pullquote green_TEXT'>I have learned that God can do things that people can\u2019t imagine.<Br><span class='author'>- 5th Grade Participant<\/span><\/div><div style='clear:both;'><\/div>\n<p><strong>Community Living<\/strong><br \/>\nAn integral component of the summer internship is the opportunity to live in intentional community for the duration of the internship experience. Interns live together on the beautiful campus of <a href=\"https:\/\/txwes.edu\/\">Texas Wesleyan University<\/a> in Fort Worth and experience daily life in a diverse, Christ-centered community. Interns are encouraged to participate in social activities and build relationships with other members of the PT community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vocational Exploration<br \/>\n<\/strong>Each Friday, interns learn about career opportunities in various service fields, ministries and areas of intern interest through guest speakers, field trips, and interactions with leaders in the community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spiritual Development<\/strong><br \/>\nProject Transformation Greater Tarrant invests in the spiritual development of each intern. The program emphasizes the importance of community through worship, Bible study, and guest speakers. Interns have the opportunity to participate in weekly worship as well as brief morning devotions each day before heading to the program sites. Interns are given space to examine their personal beliefs through intellectual and spiritual discussions.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><Br><Br><br><div class=\"section parallaximage\" id=\"parallax_1\" style=\"background-image: URL(&quot;http:\/\/project.modmktg.com\/north-texas\/wp-content\/themes\/projecttransformation-chapters\/timthumb.php?src=http:\/\/projecttransformation.org\/central-texas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2016\/03\/header-1.jpg&amp;w=900&amp;h=400&quot;);\" data-parallax=\"scroll\" data-bleed=\"10\" data-speed=\"0.2\" data-image-src=\"http:\/\/projecttransformation.org\/central-texas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2016\/03\/header-1.jpg\" data-natural-width=\"1600\" data-natural-height=\"1033\"><\/div><div class=\"section content\"><div class=\"wrapper bodycopy gray_TEXT\">\n<p><strong>Site Involvement<br \/>\n<\/strong>Interns meet with site staff and participate in activities, including attending 2 worship services at their host church with their team. This is an opportunity to build sustainable relationships with the church and community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Specifics<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The dates for this internship are <strong>Monday<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>May 25-Friday, July 24, 2026. <\/strong>This includes one week of pre-program training and eight weeks of day camp.\u00a0 Leadership positions will require 2 or 3 days of additional training prior to May 25, 2026.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Young adults will live in community in housing provided by Project Transformation Greater Tarrant.<\/li>\n<li>During their internship, PT recommends that interns not have commitments outside of Project Transformation Greater Tarrant, such as summer school or a part-time job.\u00a0 This is a 40-hour per week position.<\/li>\n<li>Part of the 40-hour work schedule includes community dinners Sunday through Thursday.\u00a0 These dinners that are provided by community partners in order foster relationship-building with co-workers and volunteers. One night per week, interns have an opportunity to participate in a community worship.<\/li>\n<li>On Fridays, interns explore vocations through field trips and dialogue with leaders of various partnering non-profit organizations, businesses, and United Methodist institutions.<\/li>\n<li>During the summer, there may be opportunities to speak at one of Project Transformation Greater Tarrant&#8217;s partner churches about the summer service experience. These opportunities are voluntary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Time Off<\/strong><br \/>\nEach week, interns will have Friday afternoon and all day Saturday to rest, hang out with friends, and explore the city.
