Make a year-end gift to PT!

For the past year, I’ve been excited to be a part of starting a local chapter of a national United Methodist-affiliated organization called Project Transformation (PT). I’m writing with the hope you will catch some of my enthusiasm and make a gift to help us launch this life-changing and desperately needed ministry in our city.

Founded 20 years ago in Dallas, Texas, PT has since grown to eight cities across the country. Outwardly, its purpose is to bring summer day camps and reading programs to under-served children in urban settings, but PT is exquisitely designed to transform whole communities and build a new generation of leaders.

Our plan for 2018 is to recruit a select group of college students who are interested in exploring their call to mission and ministry. They then will form two teams who will start the day camps in under-used United Methodist churches in Indianapolis. These programs will be supported by volunteers drawn from United Methodist congregations throughout the city. Next summer will just be the start; our hope is for those first two sites to grow to many more in the future.

Why am I so excited about this cause? Because I know PT works. It gives the children the encouragement and support they need to succeed academically. It offers leadership training to young people who are eager to make a difference in the world. And it builds bridges between diverse communities across the city.

PT’s 20-year track record in other cities is awe-inspiring: The vast majority of former interns are involved in some form of mission, ministry, or nonprofit work, or they are serving as volunteer change agents in their churches and communities. Most of the children served have improved their academic performance or gone on to excel. Inner-city churches have been revitalized. And the church communities that volunteer for PT are forever changed by these life-giving experiences.

As PT Indiana’s Executive Director and a financial supporter myself, I’m inviting you to be a part of starting this dynamic ministry in Indianapolis. As you consider your year-end giving, especially in light of the new tax law, I hope you will consider a donation to help us launch PT Indiana next summer.

You can give by writing a check to Project Transformation National with “PT Indiana” in the memo line, and mailing it to: 7160 Shadeland Station Way, Indianapolis, IN 46256

Or go online and make a donation here.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if you’d be interested in volunteering in the months ahead to ensure that this ministry becomes all that it can be.

Gratefully,

Sarah Fuquay
