Project Transformation North Georgia began organizing in 2016 after many prayers and conversations, the dream of bringing the program to the North Georgia Conference began to take shape.
The ground work began with 3 Project Transformation alumni who found common ground in a dream for a Project Transformation North Georgia during their time at Candler School of Theology. In January 2017, they began to form a small group of dedicated individuals who worked together to guide start-up efforts and lay the groundwork for replicating the ministry of Project Transformation in North Georgia. The team worked to establish foundation support through partnerships with United Methodist Churches in the North Georgia Conference and the the greater Atlanta community. After securing enough grassroots support, in August 2018 Project Transformation National approved North Georgia to be the ninth chapter launch of our National network.
Summer 2019 will be our first summer of programming. We will start with three host churches in the greater Atlanta area (including, but not exclusive to Decatur, East Point/College Park, Sandy Springs, Stone Mountain). We expect to hire 26 college interns and to have 210 children participating in our program. The vision is to expand Project Transformation North Georgia throughout the greater Atlanta community and one day to other parts of the North Georgia Conference for greater impact.
