PROJECT TRANSFORMATION NORTH TEXAS’s COVID-19 Response

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Project Transformation listened to the needs of our communities, closely monitored the guidelines of federal and local governments, and worked diligently with our board of directors, PT National, and community partners to plan our response to this crisis. Our decision-making process for the summer program is guided by the following key principles:

  • We commit to meet the real needs in our community in the midst of this crisis, though they may be different than what we’ve encountered before.
  • We commit to stay true to PT’s values, vision, and mission even if we entertain new models and methods.
  • We commit to good stewardship of our human and financial resources, to maximize our assets in ways that benefit the whole and look to the future beyond this crisis.
  • We commit to the highest-quality programming possible for children, youth and young adults.

With the expected spread of COVID-19 over the next several weeks and months, Project Transformation has made the difficult decision as a national network to offer virtual programming and supply distribution instead of our usual summer day camp for summer 2020. The safety and health of everyone involved with Project Transformation remains our highest priority.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Purchase a “summer camp in a bag” in partnership with Toy Maven
Now more than ever, children need resources to nurture their mind, body, and spirit while they are at home during this public health crisis. Researchers are already projecting a “COVID-19 slide” that will compound the existing summer slide that many low-income children experience. As a response to this need, Project Transformation North Texas is seeking to provide each family participating in our program with a “Summer Camp in a Bag” by partnering with our small business partner, Toy Maven. Our goal is that these bags, packed with fun and engaging toys and learning activities, will encourage play-based learning for many children across our community while also helping to sustain Toy Maven, a small business in our community which is all about giving back. Purchase a bag on behalf of PT North Texas today and join in a cause that is certain to bring smiles and much-needed learning opportunities to hundreds of children this summer!

Build a household supply bag
These bags will be distributed to families once a month at our summer site churches. During these uncertain times, we hope to provide basic household supplies to families to help ease the economic burden that they are facing. Items include paper towels, toilet paper, hand sanitizer and liquid laundry detergent. (One June and one July bag per family)

Volunteer to distribute food and supplies at our site churches this summer
This summer, we will distribute a grab-and-go meal, as well as program and household supplies to children and family members in our program. 2 – 3 direct service volunteers are needed to sanitize, organize and distribute supplies, Monday – Thursday, at several locations throughout Dallas. All local health guidelines will be followed. Volunteers must sign a waiver and be willing to have their temperature taken upon arrival in order to serve. You must be between the ages of 18 and 64 to volunteer. (Monday-Thursday, 10am-2pm, June and July)

Pray with Project Transformation North Texas
Whether or not you are able to serve directly with us, we invite you to join us in surrounding our children, young adults, staff, and site churches with prayer. Follow our 8-week “Prayer Guide” to pray for God’s transformative power to move this summer.
