Project Transformation’s youth program in the summer for students grades 6-8 is designed thematically, for a holistic learning experience. Middle school students participate in peer-led, skill-appropriate book clubs, where a group of 5-10 students read books collaboratively throughout the summer. Led by a trained Reading Coordinator, book clubs help develop fluency and reinforce positive peer support groups. These clubs encourage critical thinking by engaging youth in active comprehension activities. Youth reading levels are assessed at the beginning and the end of the summer. In addition to book clubs, youth enjoy personal reading time, utilizing a youth library coded by skill level, complete with selections from Summer Reading Lists provided by local schools. Middle schoolers also participate in athletic skills development, service projects, career exposure, and T.A.G. (Talk About God) Time.
