Project Transformation’s faith-based Seek & Serve Program for recent high school graduates offers a week-long hands-on opportunity to build lasting relationships with children, live in inclusive, intentional community with our young adult interns, and explore faith in action.
There are three primary components to the Seek & Serve High School Program:
Enrichment Program
During the summer program, Project Transformation Seek & Serve interns work with a team of college-aged interns to plan and implement a one week summer day camp, Monday through Thursday, for 30 to 70 elementary school-age children at a site church. Components of the program include: a one-on-one reading program, Bible lesson, arts and crafts, music, recreational activities, and other activities in which the gifts and talents of the interns can be shared with the children.
Ministry Exploration
Each Friday, interns are exposed to various vocational opportunities in service or ministry through guest speakers, field trips, and interactions with lay and ordained church leaders.
Spiritual Development
Project Transformation values the spiritual development of each Seek & Serve intern and offers intentional time and space to grow in their understanding of both needs and opportunities for ministry. The program emphasizes the importance of community through worship, Bible study, and guest speakers. The Seek & Serve interns participate in weekly worship as well as brief morning devotions each day before traveling to program sites. Seek & Serve interns are encouraged to examine their personal beliefs through intellectual and spiritual discussions.
Specifics
This service experience spans one week during the summer (specific dates to be determined by Project Transformation staff).
In many ways, serving with Project Transformation in the Seek & Serve program exceeds a week-long mission trip. The time investment will be great, but the potential for personal rewards are even greater. While much is expected of each participant, much is given in return in the form of love from the children, support and fun from living in a community, and the energy created by exploring your own personal potential to impact the world around you.
Application Process
Competitive applicants for the Seek & Serve Internship Program will be young people who:
Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the term of service, and must have the legal right to work in the U.S.
The priority deadline for internship applications is March 15. After this date, applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.
