{"id":7206,"date":"2023-03-08T14:42:12","date_gmt":"2023-03-08T14:42:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/projecttransformation.org\/tennessee\/?p=7206"},"modified":"2023-03-08T14:42:28","modified_gmt":"2023-03-08T14:42:28","slug":"project-transformation-tennessee-announces-interim-executive-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/projecttransformation.org\/tennessee\/news\/project-transformation-tennessee-announces-interim-executive-director","title":{"rendered":"Project Transformation Tennessee Announces Interim Executive Director"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #2eb135\">Project Transformation Tennessee Announces Interim Executive Director<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>NASHVILLE (March 8, 2023) \u2013 Project Transformation Tennessee is pleased to announce The Reverend Tom Laney has been named Interim Executive Director, following the departure of founding Executive Director Courtney Lawson.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7207 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/projecttransformation.org\/tennessee\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2023\/03\/LANEY-Tom-240x300-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" \/>Tom retired in 2022 after serving 37 years as a pastor in the United Methodist Church in Georgia and Tennessee, including West End United Methodist Church in Nashville. Most recently, he served as the Associate Director of the Tuner Center for Church Leadership at Vanderbilt Divinity School. His work has included leadership development for clergy and consulting with congregations to assist them in managing church conflict, staff development, and vision discernment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTom\u2019s passion for Project Transformation, our mission, and supporting our team is crystal clear,\u201d says Project Transformation Board Chair Scott Medsker. \u201cHis knowledge of Project Transformation, his life-long service to the United Methodist Church, and his leadership skills all make him the perfect individual to help lead Project Transformation through this transition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tom received his B.A. degree in American History from Yale College and his M.Div. from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. Tom and his wife, Drew (Johnson), have two grown children. Their daughter, Rachel and her husband, Allen Jarvis, live in Atlanta.
