Important COVID-19 Information. Learn More

Based on information from emergency management officials, we have concluded that we will not be able to hold in-person programs this summer. We are deeply disappointed, and yet inspired to explore how we can live out our mission in new ways. We have been in touch with our families to ask them how we can most be supportive.

This summer will look different for us. Project Transformation will provide 8-week virtual summer programming for children in collaboration with PT National, the network of PT chapters, and our community partners. The summer program will include:

  1. weekly distribution of “Camp in a Bags” and books to our families and
  2. online videos and interactive learning opportunities for children to engage from home focused on social-emotional learning, literacy, and camp-like enrichment activities, and
  3. Virtual vocation discernment experience for college-age young adults

Because of our established network of church and community partners, we believe Project Transformation is in a unique position to respond to this crisis and make a positive impact. COVID-19 has disrupted all of our lives in profound ways; it has also revealed how deeply connected we are to one another. This modified program allows us to live out our core value of connectional ministry and leverage our partnerships and community assets so, collectively, we can respond with imaginative, high-quality programs and deliver the resources our communities need most

Donate supplies for “ camp in a bag” to be distributed to children each week at our Project Transformation host churches. Now more than ever, children need resources to nurture their mind, body, and spirit while they are out of school and at home during this public health emergency. Complementing these supply bags will be virtual literacy and social-emotional activities created by Project Transformation for our students to access online throughout the summer.

Contribute $2,000 to support Project Transformation’s mission to transform communities by engaging children, college students, and churches in purposeful relationships.

Write a letter of encouragement to a Project Transformation student this summer. You can send letters to the Project Transformation office at  25 53rd St NE, Washington, DC 20019. (Please only send letters. We are not able to accept packages at the office at this time.)

Volunteer to pack and/or distribute supplies at our site churches this summer. Each week, Project Transformation will distribute summer camp supplies to students in our program. A few in-person volunteers are needed to sanitize, organize, and distribute supplies. Local health guidelines will be followed. Volunteers must sign a waiver and be willing to have their temperature taken at arrival in order to serve.

Virtual Volunteers will work with PTDC staff to host PT Circles with our students. Volunteers will have the chance to read a book to our students. We are hosting 2 circles a day, four days a week for students and volunteers to participate.

Pray with Project Transformation across the country, whether or not you are able to serve directly with us. We invite you to join us in surrounding our children, young adults, staff, and churches with prayer. Follow our 8-week Prayer Guide to pray for God’s transformative power to move this summer. (Prayer guide coming soon!)
