{"id":353,"date":"2016-05-31T15:00:27","date_gmt":"2016-05-31T15:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/projecttransformation.org\/north-texas\/?page_id=353"},"modified":"2025-01-10T20:01:51","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T20:01:51","slug":"summer-internship","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/projecttransformation.org\/washington-dc\/our-programs\/college-internships\/summer-internship","title":{"rendered":"Summer Internship"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Summer Internship<\/h3>\n<p>Project Transformation\u2019s faith-based summer internship program for young adults offers hands-on opportunities to build mutually enriching relationships with underserved children and youth, live in intentional community, experience cultural and socio-economic diversity, and explore various careers in ministry and service.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants must have completed one year of college or be at least 19 years old, and must have the legal right to work in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Competitive applicants for the Internship Program will:<\/p>\n<p>Be highly motivated, self-starters<\/p>\n<p>Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy working with children and\/or youth<\/p>\n<p>Be open-minded<\/p>\n<p>Have a desire to love and serve others<\/p>\n<p>Be dedicated to living in community with other young adults in a structured environment.<\/p>\n<p>There are five primary components to the Project Transformation internship experience:<\/p>\n<p><b>SUMMARY:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Project Transformation Washington DC\u00a0 offers a faith-based summer internship program for young adults. <\/span><b>A PT summer holds experiences that will never be forgotten: dancing with kids, laughing with teammates, realizing a passion, witnessing the profound love of God.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Interns work in teams to plan and lead summer programs for children and youth. In addition to mentoring children and youth in the enrichment program, interns commit to building community with teammates and the larger PT intern class. Other responsibilities include: collaborative and individual planning, vocational discernment, and investing in relationships with children, volunteers, other young adults, and staff members.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>COMMITMENT:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dates: TBA<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Interns are expected to commit to the entirety of the eight week summer program. Interns have the Juneteenth and July 4th holiday off.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>COMPENSATION:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">DC minimum wage (expected to be $17.50) which includes room and board. We expect interns to work on average between 35-40 hours each week. Hiring is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>ACCOUNTABILITY:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Interns are directly accountable to the Program Director.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(Specific responsibilities will be assigned to each intern.)<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u00a0 \u00a0 Facilitate Summer Program<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Complete Intern Training<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Participate on a team of young adults\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Individually and collaboratively plan activities for children or youth<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maintain a clean, fun, and safe program environment<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fill out and turn in required paperwork in a timely manner<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Communicate regularly with Program Director\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Build Intentional Relationships<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Support and encourage teammates and other interns<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Interact positively with program participants and their parents<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Build relationships with host and partner churches whenever possible<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Engage in Vocational Discernment\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Attend Friday Experiences<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Reflect on offerings from speakers, participating in small group conversations<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Network with volunteers, outside speakers, other interns<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Commit to Spiritual Development<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Participate in weekly worship experiences<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Recognize that your voice is valuable in worship spaces, no matter your religious background<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When there are opportunities to lead, lean in!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Competitive applicants for Project Transformation DC \u2019s Summer Internship Program are dynamic young adults who:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Desire to serve God and neighbor<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Believe in laughter, dancing, and life beyond comfort zones<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Get excited about new people and experiences<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Are willing to sit with the unknown<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Want to harness their skills to make an impact<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Have hope for a better world<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Project Transformation DC\u00a0 is an equal opportunity employer, and does not discriminate against any employee or applicant because of race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, disability, age, religion, genetic information, or any other basis protected by law.
