Project Transformation provides two key services:

  1. Leadership development and vocational discernment opportunities for college age young adults through summer AmeriCorps memberships.
  2. Community-oriented summer day camp programming for children from neighborhoods that are under-resourced.

Our young adult members provide this second service; this gives them authentic, hands-on experiences leading high-quality, structured programs for children and – equally important – learning from the children in the program.

Our programs are strategically housed in churches in communities that are under-resourced. This partnership between churches and Project Transformation is designed so that churches can make new connections and form meaningful relationships of mutuality with families in their immediate neighborhood.

The lasting impact of our programs comes through the strong relationships that are built between the children and our college-age young adults.

Our young adult members serve as positive role models in their lives and take an interest in the holistic growth and development of each child. Our goal is for participants to graduate high school, hopefully go to college, and then return to serve as members with Project Transformation. As children grow up in our programs, attend college, and return with a commitment to influence their communities, the multiplying effects of Project Transformation will occur.
