Rio Grande Valley Partners in Transformation Luncheon

We are honored to have Ana A. Cavazos join us as this year’s Keynote Speaker. Ana is a retired school teacher/librarian, a published author and poet, and an advocate for literacy. She visits schools throughout the Rio Grande Valley to promote literacy and encourage students and the community to come forth and tell the stories of their lives.

Her book, “Through Fields to an Education: a Memoir,” is a reflection of the lives that some children experience in the Valley and throughout the United States, and by capturing her memories, she leaves a bit of history in these stories for future generations.

Ana A. Cavazos is also the creator of “The Comic Strips and Cartooning Book.” This resource and activity book is made, with love, for all future writers, illustrators, and comic strip makers to use to begin their journey in writing and illustrating.

“Writing is the art of capturing the stories of our ancestors; thus a way to tell our stories forward.”
