During these unprecedented times, the world is no stranger to the word “different.” Project Transformation is no exception as “different” is how we continue to serve our neighboring communities through meaningful relationships. This summer at Project Transformation we not only have embraced the different delivery of programming, but have welcomed the growth that comes with loving our neighbor in a socially distant and virtual way.

Having already been a part of  Project Transformation (PT) at El Divino Redentor in McAllen last summer, the Rodriguez family knew that PT would be very different this year. Mrs. Rodriguez reminisced on last years’ programming saying, “Last year my girls always came home happy and loved the creative activities they did at PT.” This year, Mrs. Rodriguez says that her family’s favorite part of PT has been the PT @ Home videos. “It’s really great to watch the creativity of the young adults and see how my kids enjoy the videos and can do the activities at home.”

As interns across the country have stepped up to the plate to create engaging, purposeful videos for our kiddos, the impact of this year’s different delivery doesn’t stop there. Inside jokes, Zoom call hangouts, and Netflix parties have become a normality for our interns as they build relationships with their component groups to create videos for our PT kids. This summer more than ever, all 3 C’s (Children, Churches, College-age adults) are being empowered to embrace this different and difficult time we are in to grow and thrive.

The Rodriguez’s two youngest daughters, Nancy and Leia are participating in PT this summer. Nancy (3rdgrade) and Leia’s (1stgrade) are participating in PT at Home videos and Reading Buddies this summer, with their favorite part being the videos. The family is also partaking in PT’s Family Fun Night. In lieu of our traditional in-person fun night, families are receiving the card game Skip-Bo and a gift card to Domino’s Pizza.
