Summer Volunteer Opportunities

Summer Reading Volunteers
The literacy component of Project Transformation is a fun opportunity for volunteers to interact with children in a one-to-one setting. No previous experience is needed, and volunteers can sign up for one day or multiple days.

  • Reading Buddies will help children read books at their level while fostering a love for reading. Books and materials are provided.
  • Reading Testing Volunteers will be assisting to collect pre and post reading data. Current or retired educators are needed to complete simple running records and surveys with children 1st-6th grades in PT’s summer camp program.

Requirements for Reading Volunteers:

  • A background check is required for all volunteers 18+
  • High school volunteers are welcome to volunteer on their own if they are 15+ or have completed their freshman year
  • Volunteers younger than 15 must volunteer with a parent/guardian
  • Volunteers must complete a one-time online training before their first volunteer session

Dinner Volunteers

Volunteers are needed to provide and serve dinner and conversation to our dedicated college interns in the Rio Grande Valley. After a long day serving children and churches, our young adults appreciate volunteers who come to serve them. This is a great opportunity to serve, encourage, and get to know the young people who are making a difference!

– Please prepare a meal for 4 interns plus your group.
– Volunteers are asked to arrive at 6:00p to ensure enough time for set up. Dinner is from 6:30p-7:00p.
