Summer Volunteer Opportunities
Summer Reading Volunteers
Join us in making a lasting impact this summer through the literacy component of Project Transformation! Whether you’re a seasoned educator or someone who loves working with kids, we have a place for you.

- Reading Buddies provide one-on-one reading support to children in grades 1–6. No prior experience is required — just a willingness to connect, encourage, and help foster a lifelong love of reading. All books and materials are provided. Volunteers can sign up for a single day or multiple days.

- Reading Testing Volunteers help assess children’s reading progress at the beginning and end of the summer. We’re especially looking for current or retired educators to assist with simple running records and surveys. Your support helps us measure the real impact of our reading program and ensures every child gets the support they need.
Hours of Service for all Reading Volunteers:
- 9:55-11:25 for Bethel UMC, Corpus Christi FUMC, and St. Mark UMC (RGV)
- 9:55-12:05 for Northern Hills Ministry Center and FUMC Georgetown
- During Site Church VBS weeks, Reading Volunteers will be needed in the afternoon, 12:55-2:30, instead of in the morning.

Requirements for Reading Volunteers:

Volunteers 18+ must complete a background check.
-
High school volunteers (15+ years old or those who’ve completed their freshman year) can volunteer independently.

Volunteers under 15 must serve with a parent or guardian.

A one-time online training is required before your first volunteer session.

Whether you volunteer for a day or the entire summer, your time and energy will make a meaningful difference. We’d love to have you on the team!
Dinner Volunteers
We are seeking volunteers to provide and serve dinner to our dedicated college interns. After a long day of serving children and churches, they truly appreciate this time of support and encouragement. This is a great way to connect and serve the young adults making a difference this summer.
Volunteer Responsibilities:

Prepare a meal for the interns and your group.

Arrive by 6:00 PM to set up.

Serve dinner from 6:15 PM to 7:00 PM.

Training Week (San Antonio):Meals for 20-40 interns

Georgetown: Meals for 9 interns

San Antonio: Meals for 12 interns

Rio Grande Valley: Meals for 5 interns

Corpus Christi: Meals for 6 interns

Note: Meal numbers may change based on volunteer needs.
