Create a “summer camp in a bag” to be distributed to children at our Project Transformation site churches. Now more than ever, children need resources to nurture their mind, body, and spirit while they are out of school and at home during this public health emergency. Sign up to create a bag here.
Volunteer at a distribution site, where Project Transformation will distribute a grab-and-go meal daily, as well as program supplies to students in our program. A few in-person volunteers are needed to sanitize, organize, and distribute supplies. Local health guidelines will be followed. Volunteers must sign a waiver and be willing to have their temperature taken at arrival in order to serve. (Monday-Thursday, 10:30am-2pm, June 1 – July 23). Register as a volunteer by clicking the site below where you’d like to serve. Please register for NEEDED shifts.
Serve as a Pen Pal, writing back and forth with a PT student throughout the summer. This is a great opportunity to help our students grow in their literacy and writing skills from home! Letters will be mailed to the Project Transformation office where they will be reviewed and sent to the connected Pen Pal. A cleared background check is required. Register as a Pen Pal here.
Pray with Project Transformation Tennessee! Whether or not you are able to serve directly with PT, we invite you to join us in surrounding our children, families, churches, staff, and volunteers in prayer. Prayer guide coming soon.

Project Transformation offers afterschool programming for elementary students at three of our Nashville area site churches Monday through Thursday (Antioch UMC, Matthews Memorial UMC, and Trinity Community Commons). There are numerous ways to serve:
Help with homework! Project Transformation is looking for caring volunteers to offer one-on-one homework and reading tutoring. We ask volunteers to consider committing to one day per week. All volunteers are asked to participate in a one-hour orientation session prior to service. Read our Afterschool Homework Buddy Volunteer Description. (Sept-May, Mon-Thurs, 4-5:15p)
Click here to register for a Homework Buddy orientation session. All orientations are held at the Project Transformation office on the campus of Scarritt Bennett. (Park at 1027 18th Avenue S, Nashville)
Serve a meal at a Family Fun Night! Family Fun Nights are a great volunteer opportunity for groups! They happen twice a semester during the school year and each month during the summer at each of our sites. This is an evening of fun for the children and parents in our programs. Volunteers are needed to provide meals and assist with activities. (Sept-May, Thursday evenings, 5:30-7p)
Our program for elementary and middle school youth operates at ten site churches in the Middle and West Tennessee areas. The summer program alone requires over 1,500 volunteers to operate! You can get involved in the following ways:
Read one-on-one with children at our summer program sites. Both individuals and groups are welcome! (June-July, Mon-Thurs, 9:15a-12:15p)
Provide dinner for our young adult interns living on college campuses (Belmont, MTSU, Lemoyne Owen, Austin Peay); Stay and fellowship! (June-July, Sun-Thurs, 5:40-7p)
Provide an Attendance Celebration to celebrate children with exceptional attendance at PT. (June-July, Wednesday afternoons)
