National Leadership Fellows Making an Impact

For the last eight months, four very talented PT alumni have been serving as PT National Leadership Fellows at PT chapters across Texas and Indiana. Made possible by the Young Clergy Initiative, Texas Methodist Foundation, and several generous donors, the purpose of the fellows program is to develop high potential PT alumni as potential candidates to lead future chapter expansion efforts or to serve as new staff leaders at existing chapters. In addition to earning certificates in nonprofit management and leadership, these young adults have been leading several initiatives at local PT chapters, including: developing communications plans; coordinating summer intern training sessions; implementing volunteer and alumni engagement strategies; and leading chapter expansion efforts into new cities!

National Leadership Fellow, Erin Kiel, speaking at PT North Texas Luncheon

Here are just a few reflections from our fellows and their supervisors:

“I was really proud of myself for speaking at the luncheon since public speaking is not something I would have named as a personal strength. It was a really unique opportunity that made me feel like I was contributing to the greater good of this organization.” – Erin Kiel, PT North Texas

“Running my first advisory council meeting on my own was a significant achievement. It went very well, and I had a board member congratulate me on doing a great job.” – Mitchel Lambert, PT Rio Texas

“I’ve been involved in planning our host and partner church meetings, and preparing volunteer events and supply drives. I feel very successful in the planning and implementation of these events! My team has been excellent coaches, helping me see my strengths.” – Sarah Flores, PT Indiana

“Cassie is the perfect example of what it means to be adaptable and flexible. She is never afraid to try something new. She has been the biggest blessing to PT Central Texas!” – PT Central Texas staff, regarding National Leadership Fellow, Cassie Samuelson
