Project Transformation DC began organizing in 2016 after many prayers and conversations about the vision for Project Transformation in the DC, Maryland, Virginia area. A seminary class project provided the asset mapping to research the needs in the area including the number of children reading below grade level within 3 miles of the US Capitol Building.

With support from Project Transformation National, the DC Chapter launched inĀ  2018 with 16 college interns, a dozen sponsoring churches, and approximately 100 children in under-resourced communities. The summer of 2020 looked a little different at PT adapted our program to be mostly virtual with weekly supply and book distribution.

In 2021, Project Transformation DC ran a hybrid summer camp with children participating in half days of camp outdoors and one hour of reading online in the afternoon. The summer of 2022 brought back full camp days with limited number of students. PTDC partnered with Brighter Day Ministries and Emory Fellowship UMC to host camps for 20 children at each church!
